DNA Gardens offers tissue culture plants

Tissue Culture Saskatoons - Of Course !

We feel it would be wise to plant more than one variety when establishing an orchard of saskatoons, or anything for that matter.   We have seen years on our farm when Smoky rests and Northline produces. Also vice versa. With only some data in, it may turn out that a certain variety will do better in some districts than others.

We never quit experimenting. We have planted 2 acres of Honeywood saskatoons. We like the narrow base, vase shape habit of growth which is ideal for mechanical harvest. We also planted a row of Nelson, Lee #3 and Lee #8.

Grow with the best.  Plant tissue culture Saskatoons
What you clone, or tissue culture, is what you get. Saskatoons like Nelson, Honeywood and Lee #3 select very specific characteristics which must be tissue cultured (cloned). The saskatoon industry is becoming much more sophisticated and processors are looking for specific qualities. Growers are looking to satisfy processors, PYO customers and mechanical harvest requirements.
The more fruit crops we harvest mechanically, it becomes obvious, how important it is to plant tissue culture plants. To harvest a top quality berry, all the bushes in a row must be as close to the same stage of ripeness as possible.
Researchers highly recommend Tissue Culture Plants and firmly support tissue culture. Their own test plots of tissue culture plants bear fruiting testimonial.
