SK Steadfast Raspberry

DESCRIPTION OF SK STEADFAST RASPBERRY
This ultra cold hardy raspberry was developed by the University of Saskatchewan.  Hence the SK. in the name.

FRUIT QUALITY: Similar to Boyne

COLOUR: Bright Red

SHAPE: Round

OTHER: Is easily detached from pith and stalk. This has a large berry, berry diameter is 20.5 mm [Boyne: 16.3 mm]. Fruit is firm. Skin abrasion resistance is better than Boyne.

YIELD: Long season producer. Bearing is greatest in mid season. Yield is less than Boyne.

WINTER HARDINESS: Much more hardy than Boyne.

CANE STURDINESS: Similar to Boyne. Is medium to above average in stature and fruit held fairly well off the ground.

HARVESTABILILITY: Could be machine harvested.

MARKET:  Is suited to the fresh market but is most suitable for the backyard grower as this cultivar does not sucker freely and so is easily controlled.

PARENTAGE: Muskola x Fraser.

NOTE: We have less information on this selection because it is considered suitable for residential growers only. For this reason it was omitted from our replicated trial  lab test.
